It's *very* dark outside at 6:30AM but that did not stop Mr. Customer Flashlight Man from scoping out the treasures before the Garage Sale officially started at 7AM! I chatted with him for a few minutes (duh). He said he's retired and rather bored. He scopes out all the garage sales and told me you MUST get there early if you want the GOOD stuff. LOL.
It was f-f-f-f-freezing (43 degrees) but you wouldn't have known it by the way Sharon & Renee were dressed. They were only wearing a sweatshirt & jeans! No hat. No gloves. No scarf. Not to mention, they fully mocked me because I looked like "Nanook of the North". They asked me if I was planning on going skiing!?! I was also sporting layers that included pink long underwear and wool socks. OK, so it *might* have been a bit much. I'll confess, I did get a wee bit WARM when I was hauling boxes from the garage out to the front lawn. But after the "work-out" part was over, I stayed toasty warm. Renee needed a blanket (pansy) and her footsies were f-f-f-f-reezing! Hah! That will teach em' for making fun of me!
That Renee is hilarious though, and decided to post an "Item of the Hour" on Facebook to entice the locals to come and shop, shop, shop. She called it "Crap-a-palooza". Below is the first item that was featured. She claims it belonged to her mother-in-law. No comment.
The next item was this especially colorful scarf. Who would not want to wear this to work or school? I dunno. You tell me.
The final "Item of the Hour" was the dog crate. It was roomy. It was surprisingly clean. It was calling my name. Yes ... go ahead and sing: How much is that doggie in the dog crate? Woof. Woof.
It's fun to watch people at Garage Sales. Lots of them like to "dig" through piles of clothes and quite frankly don't care about keeping them organized. LOL. We're pretty sure we spotted a dear old lady who was a "Hoarder" because she came back 3 times *and* when Sharon helped her to the car on the final round, her vehicle was packed to the brim and she admitted some of her garage sale finds had been in the car for at least 6 months. Wait. What?!? Maybe you didn't need them in the first place? Sigh.
I had SO much fun that I decided to go back on Saturday just to observe more shoppers and hang with the girly girls. Good times, I tell ya. Well, until the neighbor kid backed into my car and put a good ol' dent in the drivers side door! Dang it. He felt *really* bad, though. Not to mention, his mom & dad were super apologetic. What could I say? Ugh. G.G. the VW will visit a body shop this week and get the damages assessed. Guess what? I have the gift of time to take care of it ... I'm thankful for that!
What did you DO on the weekend? Did you enjoy that extra hour of sleep? I know I did; getting up early two days in a row really wore me out. Ha Ha! Until next time. TTFN.
